Garcia scoffs at Erik Morales' excuses – Boxing News
Unbeaten American WBA and WBC light welterweight titlist Danny Garcia is furious over his opponents making excuses for being beaten. Garcia, who grabbed the WBC title from legendary Mexican fighter Erik Morales and then knocked out Briton fighter Amir Khan to win the WBA title, heard excuses of both the fighters for the defeat.
After the knockout on July 14 this year, Amir Khan came up saying Garcia just got lucky during the fight. On the other hand, Erik Morales’ father Jose Morales revealed his son was not 100% ready for the fight, as he was recovering from a gall bladder surgery. A rather surprised Garcia thought it was funny to hear all the excuses fighters make when he beats them.
“You know it’s funny, someone always seems to have an excuse after I beat them,” said Garcia while talking about his upcoming rematch against Erik Morales during a press conference in New York. “I know this, my father would never let me fight if I just had surgery. I’m undefeated and I’m still going to be undefeated after I beat Erik Morales.”
Garcia, who stands with 24 wins, 0 losses and 15 knockouts in his career, is on his way to become the next most explosive fighter in the world, considering Manny Pacquiao is on the verge of retirement.
“At this point, this is the most important fight of my career. I’m 36 and for me, I know the best of me has passed. But I plan on making a good fight, and I promise this will be a fight to remember,” said Morales while talking about his upcoming fight against Garcia.
Garcia will be facing Erik Morales on October 20. The duo will face each other in a rematch for the WBC title, and Garcia is hoping he will leave no stone unturned to show the world he can beat Erik Morales.
It is quite unfortunate for a young fighter like Garcia to face all the criticism, even though he is an emerging fighting star. For now, Garcia is hoping to make the best of his next fight by knocking out Morales as soon as possible in the ring.
