Gardasil vaccine??!?

well, I'm not exactly sure how to spell it, but...I was wondering, if I wasn't to get that vaccine for cervical cancer...and suppose I kissed a guy, could I get that cancer? b/c my mom is not going to let me get that vaccing b/c the doesn't believe in vaccines, so....I'm afraid that if I went on a date, and I was to kiss that guy, I just don't want to get cancer. PLEASE HELP ME! I'm in middle school!

I think your referring to mono "The kissing disease"

Infectious mononucleosis, also known as Pfeiffer's disease, mono (in the United States of America) and more commonly known as glandular fever in other English-speaking countries, is an infectious disease. It occurs most commonly in adolescents and young adults, where it is characterized by fever, sore throat, muscle soreness, and fatigue. Infectious mononucleosis typically produces a mild illness and is often asymptomatic. Mononucleosis is predominantly caused by the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), which infects B cells (B-lymphocytes), producing a reactive lymphocytosis predominantly consisting of atypical lymphocytes, a specific type of T-cell that gives the disease its name.

The name "kissing disease" is often applied to mono in casual speech, as in developed countries it is most common at the same age when adolescents and young adults are initiating romantic behavior. This co-occurrence is not apparent in undeveloped countries, where poor sanitation and close living arrangements cause the causative virus to be spread at a much earlier age, when the disease is mild and seldom diagnosed.

You cannot get genital warts or HPV, or any type of cancer from kissing.

Gardasil is the vaccine you are thinking of.  The vaccine has killed and permanently disabled many people, so perhaps that's the reason your mom doesn't want you to get it.  

Once you start having s*x (hopefully not for awhile), make sure you get pap smears every year.  Yearly pap smears will catch HPV very early, so it can be treated before turning into cancer.

Sweetheart, you will not get cancer from kissing. You can get a form of herpes though if he has a cold sore (or gets them) and cold sores can be transferred to the genitals during oral s*x (genital herpes)... which in turn gives you greater chances of cervical cancer.

Your mom may have done some research into the vaccine and is not comfortable with it. It is a newer one and there have been problems with the vaccine. Which is why she may not be comfortable with you getting it.
