I want a vine to grow up a wall in my backyard. There is sun but not much water. I don't mind if it doesn't flower, in fact i prefer it didn't. Know of any?

  1. You could try Ivy. Once it takes off it will grow grow grow. good luck

  2. There is ivy, if you want a vine that does not flower, it grows fast and is not deciduous as most vines are and takes little to no care. You would have privacy year round, but English ivy can be invasive. If your not big on watering though that may not be a problem, (or look for a none invasive kind).

I like  the flowering trumpet vine, climbing honeysuckle, climbing Hydrangea (a strong grower, so needs good support), climbing Jasmine (a fast grower), sweet autumn clematis and climbing porcelain berry with it's pretty leaves and berries. I grow all of the above in my garden with the exception of  the Ivy.

There is bougainvillea if you live in the warmer southern states, it also flowers though.

There is morning glory but it is an annual and you would have to replant it every year. You can check with your local nursery, they would be glad to help you to see which of these vines would be best for your locale or have an idea of their own to share. I think that ivy would probably suit you best from your question.

Just make sure that if it is year round privacy you want make sure it isn't a deciduous vine. Deciduous vines loose all their leaves in the winter. If that isn't the case any of the vines above will work for you if your climate is right.
