We have a garden hose in the front of our house that I use to water the trees and plants in the front;but recently, we had a company come cut our grass, and aparently they ran over the garden hose and damaged it.

So I wanted to remove that garden hose and replace it with another, but it seems to be stuck on the faucet.I originally put it on by hand, but when I tried to get it off by hand I couldt get it off.So I tried a vice grip to try to unloosen it&get it off,but even with that I was unable to get it off;infact I was afraid of damaging the water line cuase I would move the faucet, but not make any or very little progress geting the hose off the faucet.

I figure that either the end of the hose o&/or the faucet is rusty, or possible(but small chance) running cold water through the hose maybe has cause the metal end to contract enough making it hard to get off. While my dad on the other hand has convinced himself that I improperly put the hose on with a vise(not true) and...

  1. Vice grips ?Try a crecent wrench and chanell locks on the under side of the valve nossle as backup to the torque you're pushing against.Righty Tighty Lefty Loosy looking at it from lying on the ground looking up at the connection in this case seriously

  2. TRy heating it up with a propane torch for just a few seconds. That should expand the metal and make it easier to loosen off.

Or try wd40 it works like magic!

  3. I would say the vise grips are squashing the fitting out of round and that is why it will not loosen. Try using less force on the tightening of the vise grip and go around the fitting squeezing and turning as you go. It will come off.

  4. Go ahead and cut the hose righ under the spicket - you can repair it later. You have left about 6 inches of hose on the faucet. Spray some WD-40 or similar spray lube on it and wait about 15-20 minutes. Now get or borrow a PIPE wrench. Have your Dad or friend hold the faucet while you loosen the hose with the wrench (turn COUNTERCLOCKWISE) If this doesn;t work, cut a 2X4 block of wood to wedge between the ground/concrete and the bottom of the fauct for support while you turn the pipe wrench, It'll come off  don't worry.  A replacement FEMALE coupler is available at Lowes, Home Depot, Wal Mart for about 4 bucks.

  5. PB blaster is way better than wd 40 and does not eveaporate like wd 40..It also defies gravity and will actually foam up and climb up the threads...which wd 40 will hit some threads on the faucet but flow downawards..this PB blaster is the bomb!!This product is available at walmart..they only handle the one kind and not all listed in this link...They have the most common correct type for loosing items as you need.. Wd40 is good stuff..but it just doesnt compare to pb blaster.,.

  6. spray it with WD40, let it sit for awhile then try taking it off

  7. how much hose is attached to the part that is on the faucet?

why not just use a hose mender and add a new end to the section that is stuck and then s***w the new hose to that?

    seems like a simple solution
