After hearing that a poor child died in one again yesterday, I have decided to back fill mine. Did anyone else do the same?

  1. I just built me a pond yesterday.  I don't have any young children around here to worry about them drowning or anything, and I love the peaceful feeling they bring.  It helps me alot, to sit in my garden and listen to the waterfall with the birds chirping and the sun shining as I sit in my swing and ponder all the thoughts for the day.

  2. Yes I have and you have certainly done the right thing not only your child but a friends child could also be put into danger and nobody needs that type of guilt. If you go to your DIY shops there are plenty of water features to see without the mass of water and the danger.

  3. Good for you, dont want to have a go but surely with a young child its an obviouse thing to do.

Happens so often,  happened to someone I knew, grandad was baby sitting, couldnt find the child and she was drown in the pond.

    Glad you've seen sense.

  4. No. to make it safe we installed wire netting, and never under any circumstances leave are granchildren unattended.

  5. Or you could have fenced it off to make it safe, and still be able to enjoy the fish/plants etc...but whatever makes you and your family feel safe, thats whats important

  6. Have you thought of the rock type formation with trickling water. nice and peaceful no danger.
