I like to find new garden tools and sometimes find one which makes me wonder how I ever got by with out it. One such tool is the Japanese Hori Hori Weeder Knife, or as my husband and I call it, the Samurai sword (because we couldn't remember the proper name for it).

Share your favorite with me....and, if possible, a link to it. Thanks.

Oh, here's a link to the knife:

  1. my son and the claw

  2. My favorite gardening tool is a long handle spade. It is extremely versatile and somewhat ergonomic. Been my favorite tool for over 30 years. I have literally worn the blade down to about 5" on more than one spade. I can dig, plant, edge, cut roots, undercut sod or weeds, divide perennials, and other things with it.

Second favorite tool is a bypass hand pruner. I especially like Felco, the pros choice. Felco is made the best, lasts the longest, and you can get replacement blades or other parts. Model number  7, with the swiveling handle, cuts down hand stress when pruning a lot.

  3. For deep roots, I like the weed wrench, weed popper or weed twister.  Various sizes available depending on the size of the weeds and type of soil - terrain.

  4. i always work my ho

  5. http://images.lowes.com/product/049206/0...

The scuffle hoe.  I can weed in seconds and/or clear gorund for a new flowerbed in minutes and plant the same day  ( not true when using herbicides !).  It is the best thing going.  Clears grass and weeds like a dream.

  6. in my clay, my mattock, small sized, is the most helpful thing I have... it will attack the roots of bermuda grass, divide plants in place, open holes, chomp weeds, even lever out stones.... wonderful thing to have handy.....

  7. I find I use my scythe most often. I use it to take away the weeds, overgrown grass, and branches and twigs that go astray. I also use it to fast-trim the hedges.

I finish by pruning, and cutting the dead/old twigs.

And at times, I even use the scythe to dig when planting new seedlings !

  8. My favorite garden tool would have the claw. (As seen on tv).  Its awesome, it helps me plant my flowers twice as fast because it allows me to chop up the dirt and scoop it out.
