We have a day to spend in one of the gardens in Paris. So which is better/nicer, Jardin de Luxembourg or Le jardin des plantes?

  1. The Luxembourg Gardens are very nice but hardly the sort of place one would spend an entire day at. Its not really all that big to begin with.

The Jardin des Plantes is the Botanical Garden and, assuming you have an interest in botany, can be very instructive. But again, I can't imagine spending a vacation day in Paris at the Botanical Gardens.

The Bois de Vincennes (http://www.boisdevincennes.com/site/inde... might be a more likely candidate for spending a day as you could visit the zoo which is there and the Château de Vincennes (http://en.chateau-vincennes.fr/index.php...

    .

  2. Jardin de Luxembourg was amazing when I was out there... I spent the whole day just people watching and enjoying the beauty!

  3. I prefer le jardin du Luxembourg... Actually le bois de Vincennes is at Vincennes out of Paris but it is nice too.

  4. Jardin du Luxembourg is very beautiful indeed. You can rest near the pond. I like looking at the chess players in summer near the tennis. To spend one day, I would prefer it, because you can also walk around and see some good things. You are close to Latin quarter, Pantheon, Odeon, Observatoire.

Jardin des Plantes is good if you are interested in plants and animals. You can see tropical plants and some are 10 meters high. There is also a little botanical garden and a zoo with reptils. You can also visit in the garden the evolution museum with prehistoric animals. Close to Jardin des Plantes, you can visit Institut du Monde Arabe.

Bois de Vincennes is good to make jogging but its more savage except in the island with a restaurant and the zoo.

  5. Bois de Vincennes is definetly really nice. It's has a garden, a castle (with a magnificant church), a lac with an island and a cave... It's also big enough that you can easily spend the whole day there without being bored.

The Jardin des plantes is smaller but is also very nice. Unfortunatly, the Greenhouses may be closed depending when you go. They are suppose to open in 2007 but I don't believe they have yet.

  6. I would skip Paris and take the train to Versailles to see the gardens around the palace.  It only takes about 20ish minutes via train and the palace is about a 20 minute walk from the train station.

  7. if you're near Vincennes you could go to "parc floral" . you could also on the evening see horses races (tuesday and friday from 8pm to 11pm) at hippodrome de Vincennes

sorry the page is all in french .
