Gareth Andrew signs new deal with Worcestershire
All-rounder Gareth Andrew has signed a new one-year deal with Worcestershire to commit his future to the club.
Andrew has held off an approach from Sussex to get the deal he wants to stay at the county. It seems a good move for all concerned as the 21-year-old can settle down and focus on having an impact next
season.
"With some further progression with the ball he has the potential to be a quality all-rounder.
Chris has worked really hard this summer and has done everything we have asked him to do,"
director of cricket Steve Rhodes said.
There are many positives for both the club and the player with this deal. However, some have suggested that shunning Sussex has dented Andrew's chances of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/A-Swift-c41334 England
call up.
Positives all round
Andrew is a very aggressive player who can bat at the top of the order in any form of the game. This is very useful if Worcestershire wants to take a more aggressive approach
into any game. He is a player that can quickly take the game away from the opposition.
He is developing well as a bowler. He is still not at the point where he can be considered a strike bowler for the county but his role is gradually getting more important.
The club does not have to worry about one of the best young prospects in the team. Club officials would have feared a lucrative offer from Sussex could tempt the player
away but he has shown loyalty to stay, which will work in his favour.
Andrew now has to work very hard if he has any England ambitions. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sussex-c852 would have increased his chances of an England slot because the county enjoys more media exposure.
However, he seems intent on getting his chance with the county that helped him into the first class game.
Betting advice
Andrew needs to have a big season next year if http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Worcestershire-c866 is going to be successful. Don't be afraid to back him to score a big century in any game. His game will only
develop and get stronger over the coming months.
