Gareth Bale could have been a Red Devil
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that he tried to sign http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422 five years ago, but was beaten to the punch by Tottenham Hotspur.
Bale has been instrumental to Tottenham’s success this season. He has been hugely impressive both domestically and in Europe, having scored 11 goals in all competitions for Spurs this season. His crowning achievement was undoubtedly the hat-trick against

The Spurs man is already being compared to the FIFA World Player of the Year, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296. His phenomenal pace, coupled with his pinpoint crosses and deadly left foot, allow him to terrorize even the best defences in the world today. He has been a big reason
for Tottenham’s ascendancy up the Premier League rankings in recent seasons, and has become one of their most prized assets.
Sir Alex Ferguson has now revealed that things could have been very different for the winger. The Manchester United manager tried to sign Bale from Southampton FC back almost 5 years ago, but was thwarted in his attempts to do so.
He said, “We tried to sign him as a 16 or 17-year-old boy. Southampton (FC) had a Scottish chief executive and George Burley was the manager. I don't know the full circumstances but they didn't accept our offer and I think they must have alerted Tottenham.”
Gareth Bale has attracted attention from the biggest clubs in Europe due to his performances for the Spurs, and Sir Alex believes that the winger is one of Tottenham’s best players. The Manchester United manager said, “Bale has made the best contribution
without a doubt. Eleven goals for a wide player is a really good return.”
Manchester United are gearing up for a difficult trip to White Hart Lane on Sunday. If Sir Alex can pull of a win against Tottenham, the Red Devils are almost certain to go on and regain the Barclays Premier League crown.
