http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422, the Tottenham Hotspur winger, revealed he was enjoying being given the freedom to attack by manager Harry Redknapp.
The 22-year-old was hopeful he could continue scoring goals for the London side and help them fight for the Premier League crown. Bale has now scored eight goals in the Premier League, with the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wales-c3041 international scoring a brace against Norwich City on
Boxing Day.
There is no doubt the Welshman has been given more freedom by the manager in terms of attacking, which he has made the most of. Along with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 and Rafael van der Vaart, Bale looked to be unstoppable.
Bale said while speaking to reporters:
“The free role is helping me improve as a player as I'm not being marked out of the game.”
Bale has now averaged a goal every 2.25 games and is greatly enjoying himself. He has received praise from various managers, including his own, who claimed Bale was “unplayable”. The winger said he hoped to continue scoring goals for his side.
He continued:
“I've always played out wide, I've never really thought about playing through the middle. Since people have been double-marking me or even triple-marking me it's something that I've had to bring into my game.
It's enjoyable, especially when the team's playing as well as it is. It's great to be in there. Hopefully I can keep continuing to play in the kind of form that I am and I hope I will get more goals.”
Bale, who scored to chants of “chimp” by the Norwich City fans, was not too concerned by the taunts. According to him, they just helped him perform better even though manager Harry Redknapp was not too pleased and described the chants as “sick”.
With the title race warming up, Bale was certain his side would be title contenders at the end of the season as long as they continued their current match winning form. Tottenham Hotspur travel to Swansea City in their next Premier League fixture over the
weekend.
Bale revealed:
“It's great to be up there but we know ultimately that we have to keep concentrating.”
