Gareth Bale given time off to prepare for Manchester United and Inter Milan
Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale has been given extra time off to prepare for important matches against Manchester United and Inter Milan.
The 21-year-old Welshman has been in outstanding form for his club and country so far this season, capping his strong performances off with a sensational hat-trick against European champions Inter in the UEFA Champions League.
The player has been an ever-present fixture in the Spurs side so far this season, and is beginning to feel the strain on his body from his exertions.
With a crunch English Premier League clash with the Red Devils at Old Trafford on Saturday, 30 October, and the return game against Inter at White Hart Lane on 2 November, Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has allowed the attacker to have a few days off and rest
his tired legs.
"It will be good to give Gareth a couple of days extra off. I think the kid needs it. I think he's probably going to go away for three or four days and we'll get him in Thursday morning and it'll do him the world of good.
"He's tired. The kid runs miles every game. He has unbelievable stats. He takes some beating most days. He runs long distances. He needs a few days now. He had two tough games with Wales and some tough games with us."
After arriving from Southampton in a deal worth up to £10m in 2007, Bale took some time to adjust to playing football at EPL level. He was often deployed as a left-back, but since moving further up the pitch, he has become a revelation, scoring crucial goals
for Spurs.
This term, he has already netted six times in 13 games across all competitions for the club. Both of his EPL goals came in the 2-1 win over Stoke City on 21 August.
