Tottenham Hotspur winger, Gareth Bale, has claimed that injury problems near the tail-end of the 2010/11 Barclays Premier League campaign stopped him from realizing his full potential this season. The Welshman earned rave reviews for his performances for
Spurs during the first half of the campaign, but his season was cut short by a number of niggling injury concerns.
Gareth Bale has the potential to be one of the best players in Europe today, something that was proven by his displays in the UEFA Champions League this season. The Welshman caught the attention of some of the biggest clubs in Europe following his sensational
hat-trick against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan at San Siro in the group stages of the tournament.
However, the initial hype surrounding the player has petered out somewhat thanks to injury problems that have relegated him to the sidelines in the second half of the season. After recovering from a hamstring problem, his season was cut short when he picked
up an ankle injury during the final weeks of the campaign. It has left him frustrated as he looks back on what could have been had he been able to play on a more regular basis.
Speaking on the matter, the Welshman said, “Coming into the season I felt confident playing all the time and I felt comfortable playing on the wide left. Then once the season started it felt like I was improving with every game. It was a good first half
to the season but a frustrating second half for myself, picking up a little back injury, then a hamstring, then an ankle injury that finished my season. But aside from the injuries it was a good season all round and one I’m looking to build on.”
He added, “Hopefully I can get a good recovery in the off-season and be ready for pre-season and the new season.”
Bale has been linked with a move out of White Hart Lane in recent months. However, the winger recently put an end to all speculation by stating his desire to stay with Spurs. He claims that he wants to grow as a player with Tottenham before he considers
a move abroad.
Tottenham Hotspur finished the 2010/11 Barclays Premier League campaign in fifth place.
