Gareth Bale wants to be compared with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629 and Lionel Messi – EPL news
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296.
Bale has had a wonderful ongoing 2010-11 campaign and has surprised everyone with his eye-catching performances. However, the Welshman believes that he still needs to improve more to become a player of that level.
He said, “I’m still young, still learning – but if you look at the likes of Messi and Ronaldo, then those are the levels that you have to aspire to. It’s very nice if people have said nice things about me, but to be honest I try to ignore it. If you tell
me I’m a superstar, I certainly don’t think of myself in that way, to be honest.”
The 21-year-old revealed that he had to face a lot of problems after joining the club almost three years back from Southampton. He said that at one point, club manager Harry Redknapp got fed up of him and told the physio to ignore him if he complained of
injuries. Things have changed now and Bale thinks that the club physios are especially working hard on him to make sure that he is available for every game.
Bale said, “I suppose I am tougher both physically and mentally, but it is just a part of growing up, really. I was 17 when I joined Tottenham, and moving to London at that age is difficult. You just grow up and mature naturally so it was always just a matter
of time and I hope that is showing on the pitch now.”
Bale is hoping to overcome his recent injury to take on Real Madrid in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League at the Santiago Bernabeu next week. The Spurs will be hoping that their star player is ready to play as he has been really influential for them
throughout the season.
The winger has scored 11 goals for the Lilywhites in the season including a wonderful hat-trick against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan in the UEFA Champions League group stage fixture.
