After Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry was ruled out due to injury, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 squad.
The 31-year-old Barry has been ruled out of European Championships due to a lower abdomen tear and will undoubtedly be very disappointed. The injury was made apparent during the friendly against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Norway-c2974 on Saturday when he barely managed 30 minutes on the
pitch.
Barry was taken off on his 53rd international cap as England went on to win 1-0 in Oslo. He has now been replaced with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Phil-Jagielka-c29902 in the 23-man-squad by manager Roy Hodgson. The England manager confirmed the midfielder was unfit to participate
in the tournament.
Hodgson said while speaking to reporters:
“I’m very disappointed to lose Gareth. Not only was he a member of my original 23-man squad but he has featured prominently in the England team over the last few years.

I know how much he wanted to be part of the tournament but I’m sure he will still have a part to play with England after the Euros. I wish him a speedy recovery.”
The new England manager admitted he was disappointed to lose out on the talent of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Barry-c14423, who had done well for his country in the past. He revealed Barry had been his first choice, but that now he had to choose a replacement as Barry was unavailable.
Barry began his England career with the under-21 international side, going on to make 27 starts for them. He was then picked to be in the senior side, alongside http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Beckham-c10432, in 2000. He went on to make further appearances in 2003 for the Three Lions.
While he did not play under Sven-Goran Eriksson, he returned in 2007 under Steve McClaren. Despite having made it to the England senior, Barry still put in appearances for the England B team, he has gone on to play under five different managers.
Barry has made a total of 53 appearances for England and has scored three goals for the senior team. His absence for England could prove to be costly as the Three Lions will be without an experienced midfielder.
