Gareth Oates takes 23 seconds to knockout Rod Summer Jones – Kickboxing news
Gareth Oates, the mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter from North Wales, was in supreme touch when he won the kickboxing bout within twenty-three minutes against Rod Summer Jones. The two were fighting at the Thai Kickboxing Mixed
Martial Arts event that took place on Sunday, November 20, 2011.
It was just a twenty-three second fight. The two kickboxers entered the ring, took their stance and started their fight. The spectators in attendance were anticipating a match with punches, kicks and aggression. It took only twenty-three
second for Gareth Oates to make his move and secure a win.
The kickboxer from North Wales wasted no time in winning the match through a knockout. The 20-year old Oates, who has been coming up in the sport, was as aggressive as one could get when he hit a flying punch to his opponent. Jones,
Oates’ unfortunate opponent could not block, neither move out of the incoming power punch from Oates. The impact was so devastating that Jones was on the ground the moment his face connected with Oates’ gloves.
For Oates, this was his third knockout in succession. The kickboxer from North Wales, trained at the infamous Mold Alex Thai Boxing Club was in top touch as he won a flawless knockout win over Jones. Oates was one of those very
few yet fortunate kickboxers from the area of Flintshire in North Wales, who were given an opportunity to showcase their skills, talents and fighting ability at the Wrexham’s Liquid Nightclub.
Russ Williams, a former World Kickboxing Champion was the promoter of the event who has been in the spotlight for promoting kickboxing and mixed martial arts in the North Wales. Oates, who was coached by Darren Baker has been living
in difficult times. Oates, who went to the Flint High School, is a kickboxer in the ring but earns money from another profession in real life. Outside the ring, Oates renders his services as an electrician. He does not have the necessary monetary status to
buy his boxing gear but he was fortunate enough to have LDF as his sponsor. LDF is a finance firm situated in Ewloe, a small town in North Wales.
The promoter of the event, Williams was pleased to see Oates fight with such high spirits. He said, “Gareth was really good in the time he was fighting, he is definitely one to watch and he will be looking to go for titles in the
North West next year.” Jason Wakefield, a consultant from the financial firm, which covers all of Oates’ expenses, was also present in the fight. He said, “It was the only knockout contest on the night, and one of the most exciting.”
