I see the Garmin 160C is generally recommended for freshwater? Why not the sea? What's the difference in a fishfinder?

  1. the 160c isn`t as powerful as the other bottom machines only 150 watts compared to 500 watts ,and it use a dual beam transducer from 15-45degrees to spot fish in and under structures near the bottom , it only works well at shallower depths in deeper water it may not pickup smaller structures or outcroppings .Most salt water units use dual beam and dual frequency and are 500 watts.Garmin makes a great product ,i have a 240 blue on one boat ,and a 430s on another they both are great.
