Garmin gpsmap 295 Questions

I have just acquired this unit used from someone and I have some questions. It only came with a car plug an external antenna and a dashboard mount. The questions I have are where can I find the serial number, how can I update the databases when they expire, what cords and such would I need to update when the databases expire, and what other things would you suggest I get for this gps? I will be using it in a rental plane that has a gps much worse than this and I don't know if I will use it for driving or not yet.

The Garmin 295 is a discounted product - but this does not mean Garmin will not sell you an upgraded database (if they stop selling databases - pilot's would jump out of their skin and raise mortal h**l with them)

The 295 website is linked below:  It has the manuals, and download links there.  Serial number plate I believe is behind the battery - but contact Garmin and they will be happy to help.
