Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo carried Boston Celtics to a 100-94 win over Washington Wizards when they hosted them at TD Garden here on Wednesday night.
Chris Singleton dunked in the dying seconds of the fourth quarter to take it into overtime. The Wizards however were not able to break the shackles in O.T.
The Celtics, feeding from the energy and excitement of the home crowd, got off to a good start and took an early 11-2 lead. Wizards started off a bit slow. Trevor Booker made a jump shot to make it 7-11 for them. Two back to back
Rondo jump shorts put the Celtics up 15-9 before a 7-0 run by the Wizards had them in the lead at 16-15. Celtics immediately responded with a 6-0 run to go up 21-16 by the end of the period.
Two Courtney Lee free throws put the Celtics up 28-22 early in the second period before the Wizards responded with a 6-0 run to tie the score at 28. The score was tied again at 32 later in the period after a layup by Kevin Seraphin.

A Pierce layup shot early in the final quarter had the Celtics up 70-60 but Wizards started closing in on them and a Martell Webster three points had the deficit cut to one at 76-77. Kevin Seraphin slam dunk tied the score at 80
later in the period. Rondo made a jump shot to put the Celtics up 88-86 with only 26 seconds on the clock but Singleton slam dunked in the closing moments to tie the score and take the game into overtime.
Webster’s fade away jump shot tied up the score at 92 early in the first overtime before Celtics started an 8-0 run to race to 100-92. Wizards just could not react in time as Celtics won the game 100-94.
Boston coach Doc Rivers however, was not impressed.
"We're not playing great. It's good to win a game like that...we've got to get more guys that play harder, better. I don't care if we play "well" or not, because that's just human. We just have to play with a better focus and we've
got to run our schemes better."
Five Wizards made it into double figures with Kevin Seraphin, Bradley Beal and Martell Webster all scoring 16 points. Kevin Garnett was the player of the night as he finished with 20 points and 13 rebounds while Rajon Rondo did
what he does best. He ended up off with 18 points and 14 assists for the night.
