William Saroyan wrote the story 'The Summer of the Beautiful White Horse', in which Aram's cousin Mourad shows up before dawn on a beautiful white horse.

Aram Garoghlanian is a character from a book Saroyan wrote called, 'My Name Is Aram', in which ideas such as maturity, honesty, and acceptance are used.

Saroyan was Armenian, so I suspect he is referring to the Armenian branch of the Garoghlanian Tribes which suffered so cruelly under the Turks during World War I, otherwise known as Armenian Genocide. Previous genocides were conducted from 1894-1896, where hundreds of thousands of Armenians died in the Hamidian Massacres ordered by Sultan Abdul Hamid II.

The Garoghlanian is a fictitious tribe of Armenian descent.  THEY  ARE  CONSIDERDED  AS  VERY POOR. MOST OF THEM ARE SPENDING THEIR LIVES IN AMERICA . THEY HAVE A VERY STRONG REPUTATION , THEY ARE VERY HONEST, BRAVE. FROM 11TH CENTURY THEY ARE CONSIDERED AS ONE OF THE MOST HONEST TRIBES.  The Garoghlanian tribe values honesty above all else.  Material wealth is not important to the tribe members - being true to yourself and to your family is what makes a man good.  The tribe believe deeply in spiritual life as well, that humans have a soul that can exist outside the body.

The Garoghlanian tribe seems to be a fictional group of people in the novel "The Summer of the Beautiful White Horse" by William Saroyan.

I have never encountered anything about the Garoghlanians or a place called Garoghla in any reliable source about ancient or historic Armenia.  I believe it was used to represent a typical tribe under the Seljuk Turks and others who had a policy of "No Armenians - no Armenian Question."  At this time, many tribes were annihilated.
