Former Levski Sofia striker, Garra Dembele, has been snapped up the German Bundesliga outfit, SC Freiburg for a reported 2.5 million Euros. The striker has invited a lot of interest from a host of top European clubs but didn’t seem ready to make a move out
of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bulgaria-c2861 at first. The 25-year-old has now parted ways with Levski, and Freiburg capitalised on the opportunity.
The Freiburg officials were delighted with the striker’s arrival and wished him all the best for his future with the club. The fans also expressed their delight and were present in large numbers to see the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mali-c2951 international being presented with the club’s
official shirt.
Breisgau-Brasilianer head of communications, Rudi Raschke, told the local media, "Dembele will join up with the team and start training on Monday."
In spite of being surrounded in controversies, the Mali international didn’t lose hope and continued to perform for his club which later earned him fruits after being offered a contract in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904. Earlier this year, Dembele was accused of drink-driving
and as a result was handed an eight-month prison sentence, which was later suspended. He was also declared ineligible for driving in the European Union for nine months.
Amidst such controversies, the striker was able to maintain his form which saw him score 26 goals for Levski Sofia from 24 league games in the 2010/11 campaign. His superb goalscoring form attracted interest from lot of clubs around the globe and Freiburg
ended up sealing the signature of the Malian.
It is believed that the striker is a possible replacement for Papiss Demba Cisse, who wanted to be a part of a UEFA Champions League playing team. The Senegalese is more than likely to part ways with the club during the summer transfer window.
Dembele joined the Bulgarian outfit in 2010 from Lokomotiv Plovdiv and managed 24 league appearances since landing at Georgi Asparuhov Stadium. The French-born striker has made just one international appearance for Mali so far after making his debut this
year in February against Ivory Coast.
