Garreth Carvell believes that Wolves will avenge last year’s defeat agaisnt Giants
Garreth Carvell of Warrington Wolves believes that the wounds of the 34-22 defeat against the Huddersfield Giants are still fresh and in tonight’s, September 9, clash Wolves will try to avenge their embarrassing defeat at the hands of Giants
almost a year ago.
While referring to his franchise’s defeat last year, which had ended their League and double Cup dream, Cravell stated, "It's funny how it has worked out. That defeat left a big lump in our throat. It's something we've not forgotten at all. They played a
lot better than us. We were quite poor. We had three goals this season and obviously we've not got the Challenge Cup but it might have done us a favour because we had a rest. We've got another trophy to win and we'll be going in all guns blazing."
Wolves are the league toppers and they will receive the League Leader’s Shield after tonight’s clash against the Giants. Wolves have managed to surpass Wigan Warriors, who had previously taken up the top spot within the league hierarchy.
This is the first time since 1973, the Wolves have earned the honour. With this honour under their belt, the Wolves have successfully accomplished one of the three goals for this year.
Earlier this season, Wolves were hoping to clinch the Challenge Cup but that was taken home by their rival, the Wigans in the Wembley clash against the Leeds Rhinos. The loss of bagging the Challenge Cup did not hamper their struggle in successfully achieving
one of the two targets on Wolves’ agenda.
Wolves are hoping for a maiden Grand Final, which will be the realisation of their final goal of the year. Chances of which have increased a lot with the return of their skipper, Adrian Morley, who is making his comeback after a successful eye-surgery. Tonight’s
clash against the Giants will be Morley’s 450th game of the professional career. The player has played an important role in their win over Wigans almost two weeks ago.
