Garrison smoke/CO detector keeps beeping with fresh batteries.?

Question

I got the "1 chirp every 60 seconds" low battery warning so I removed the batteries and bought new ones. 3 Energizer AA E91, as recommended on the smoke detector and the same model that was in the detector. When I insert the fresh batteries, the detector starts beeping continously. It is 1 long beep that's never ending. I also tried Sanyo Eneloop with same result.

Detectors are cheap,replace it.

Just replace it (the whole detector)
