Garrrrrrrrrr braces:|?

Question

im getting braces next friday,

the new "damon system" brand ones,

im 14

do they hurt?

it really sucks, because i miss out on a soccer carnival because im getting them the same day, grrrr :@

and also the next day is my best friends sleppover birthday party

will i still be able to go?

and what will i be able to eat etc?

When I got them, I got used to them quick.I ate some solid food only 3 days after. After you get used to them, it is fine.You should be able to go to the party. Eat softer stuff at fisrst, then try solid when you feel like it.

Braces do hurt for a while after you get them, I&#039;m not going to lie. They also feel a bit uncomfortable at first, as there&#039;s metal pieces trying to fit in your mouth. And on that first day, or week, it might feel pretty awkward to eat, as your teeth feel &quot;weak&quot; and it&#039;s just a different feeling for a while.

But yes, you can and should go to the party. It&#039;s not that big a deal, it&#039;s not that you&#039;re sick because you got braces. Just take a painkiller if you&#039;re not feeling so good on that level, just to not be bothered. Use the wax they&#039;ll give you, so that you don&#039;t get those annoying cuts. Be sure to have some soft food, like cake or some bread, as well as yoghurts in case you have trouble with solid food. But that won&#039;t stop you from having fun.

They will hurt slightly but because they are &quot;Damon System&quot; not as much as normal ones.

You see &quot;Damon System&quot; style braces hold the wire with a sliding clip instead of on normal braces the colour bands hold the wire in. With colour bands holding in the wire it causes friction and pressure making your treatment longer and less comfortable. With &quot;Damon System&quot; braces it allows your teeth to move more freely, faster and more comfortable.

They&#039;ll just take some getting used to. When you first get them your mouth will probably feel sore. The ONLY pain I ever had was when they took out four teeth in one day, that sucked so much :(

Other than that dear, braces do not hurt.

There will be some pulling and tugging they have to do but you&#039;ll be fine.
