Garryglass Rodge to kick off Ladbrokes Puppy Derby campaign with a bang
Ladbrokes Puppy Derby starts at Monmore on Monday, March 4th. A lot of big names have reached the track with great hopes. The first round is extremely important, as we might witness a few huge upsets.
The mega event will start with the opening race at 15:48 GMT. Among the participants are: Garryglass Rodge, Remember Scotie, Hadrians Wall, Feora Boss, Klockwork Kaipo, and Brookside Ace. Alongside a handy prize of 200 pounds, the successful hound will get
a place in the next round.
An upset in the first heat is unlikely. The bookmakers have given Garryglass Rodge the highest price of 5 to 2. Although a few others are very close on the betting chart, the black dog is expected not to face any trouble on the track.
He met plenty of mess in both races here, but did very well at Romford lately. At the start of this month, M. Wallis’ charge demonstrated an excellent show, winning a 400 metres event by three and a half lengths.
After leaving the first box, he showed tremendous early pace, and railed quite nicely afterwards. The son of Blackstone Gene established his dominance at the first bend, and kept the entire line-up under pressure until the end.
He is enjoying red jacket once again. A favourable draw will surely help him avoid trouble that he faced on his previous two ventures here. Therefore, one needs a big heart to look elsewhere for the champion.
Hadrians Wall is coming off a couple of very nice trials. Judged on those two good outings, one can expect him to make the frame. Remember Scotie flopped awfully last time, and a bold effort is required to make a race of it.
Brookside Ace, the runner-up on both starts to-date, knows his way round. The draw is, however, a massive issue. It will be a surprise if he jumps to the next round. Feora Boss shaped up well on debut, but the draw does not look helpful.
Klockwork Kaipo comes into this fresh as a Daisy. The fawn dog shows great pace at the gates, therefore he looks the biggest threat to the favourite, Garryglass Rodge.
