Garth Mulroy watches his title defense slip away as the Alfred Dunhill Championship reaches final round
Garth Mulroy came into the Alfred Dunhill Championship as the defending champion. There were high expectations from Mulroy, but as the third round came to an end, nothing exceptional was witnessed in his performance.
The South African professional golfer was not up to the same level as the top players on the leaderboard.
So far, he has put up a decent performance at tournament. The defending champion made four birdies on the third day. His strokes on the front-nine saw one birdie on the first hole and two bogeys on the 3rd and the 8th hole.
The second half of his third round was somewhat better than the first. He made three birdies and remained bogeyless on the back-nine. The birdies came on the 13th, 17th and the 18th hole.
Mulroy has positive memories of the Leopard Creek Golf Club which hosts the Alfred Dunhill Championship.
Last year’s victory was the biggest achievement of his career. The South African won the tournament defeating all odds, and demonstrated the best rounds of golf he has ever played.
The South African has not been able to make the same impact on the tournament as he did the last time around.

The competition is heading into its last day and up till now the fans have witnessed the highest level of golf from the players.
Golfers like Charl Schwartzel have been producing golf that is nothing short of perfection. With a score of 8-under 64 on the second and the third round, the South African, Schwartzel has extended his lead.
For Mulroy to fancy his chances to defend his title, he will have to exhibit the best round of his career.
