Gary Bettman treats Players like Animals according to Boston Bruins David Krejci -NHL Lockout Update
David Krejci of the Boston Bruins has been pretty vocal about his thoughts in regards to the lockout. His most recent statement came while he was talking with a Czech media outlet by the name of iSport.cz, in which he said that National Hockey League (NHL)
Commissioner, Gary Bettman, treats players like “animals”.
According to Krejci, who is currently playing overseas due to the lockout, which has resulted in the cancellation of the entire preseason along with the opening three-four weeks of the 2012-2013 regular season, players want to do what they do best, but the
uncompromising attitude of team owners and Bettman is ruining the mood.
“We want to play, we’re the ones who are doing the show in the NHL, but Bettman thinks it makes him. It is unfortunate that the NHL have such a guy. It’s a shame for the entire hockey world. Treats us like animals.”
So far in the seven games he has played with the Pardubice HC of the Czech Elite League in his native Czech Republic, David Krejci has four goals and three assists to keep him at a point a game and consistent as ever.
He was drafted as the 63rd overall by Boston Bruins during the second round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft and has been a part of the franchise ever since. In 377 games played so far in the North American major league, the 26-year-old centre boasts
276 points, consisting of 81 goals and 195 assists). He also has 138 penalty minutes and a plus 57 rating.
Krejci was known to also be explicit in his thoughts for Gary Bettman prior to this statement as he asked why the Commissioner’s salary had risen by more than two times ever since the 2004-2005 lockout and now wants the players to forfeit what they have
been working for ever since.
The league is looking to cut the players’ share in team revenue by 10 percent, despite having cut it before in the previous lockout, something which players are not willing to accept at any cost and push to see the lockout through.
