Gary Boyd leads the BMW International Open: Live Leaderboard
The 23rd edition of BMW International Open has kicked off at the par-72 Golfclub München Eichenried in Munich, Germany. The four-day session of stroke-play is the first stop of European Tour after the US Open. Here is
a quick look at the leaderboard after the first few hours.
Englishman Gary Boyd teed-off from the back and compiled a score of five-under-par, 31 after the first nine holes. His maiden accomplishment was seen at the par-5, 11th hole, where he rolled a five-feet long birdie putt
into the cup, which was located on the edge of the green. The accuracy in the stroke earned him a round of applause, which eventually became a source of confidence for the player as he braved the remaining seven holes. The 24-year-old birdied two more holes
with a gap of one green and wrapped the front nine with a set of two more.
On his way to the front, the Englishman clamped another beautiful birdie after driving the ball onto the centre of the fairway and hitting the green in regulation. Similar action was repeated on the fifth and sixth hole, which
pushed him onto the top of the leaderboard. Boyd has three more holes left and he is all set to end the day as the leader.
Frenchman Tim Sluiter sits two strokes behind the temporary leader, by composing a score of six-under-par after fifteen holes. Sluiter teed-off from the front and reeled two birdies. His start was slow, but it later caught speed
when he stepped onto the less-tricky back nine. The player birdied four holes at the back and is currently waiting to tee-off on the 17th hole, which requires a careful club selection because of the wind factor involved.
Jbe Kruger chose to tee-off from the back and after completing the first nine holes, he occupies the third spot on the leaderboard. The South African picked five birdies at the back, out of which three were back-to-back, starting
from the par-4, 15th.
