Since joining http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gary-Cahill-c14439 has not found it easy to adjust at his new club.
The former Bolton Wanderers defender revealed he had been thrown into the action at Stamford Bridge due to the injury to Chelsea skipper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Luiz-c10542 in central defence and managed his first clean sheet for the Blues
since he joined in the winter transfer window.
Cahill has already made his debut for the Blues in every competition they are involved in, the English Premier League, the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League. He admitted things had not been as easy as he had hoped from when he joined from struggling side
Bolton Wanderers.
Cahill said in an interview:
“I'm not going to lie and say it's been fantastically easy. We have had some sticky results of late and I have been plonked straight in the middle of it all. It has been difficult.”
Chelsea managed their first win in five fixtures in all competitions over Bolton Wanderers in the English Premier League. While Cahill did not manage to score against his former club, he did well to help maintain a clean sheet against the Trotters at Stamford
Bridge.
According to Cahill, the Chelsea supporters had every right to expect decent results and while the Blues had not recently delivered, they would do so in the upcoming fixtures.
He revealed:
“There is an expectation level from the fans and rightly so. They expect us to win games and come and watch good football.”
As for his partnership with David Luiz in defence, Cahill was certain with time and effort they would both improve and provide a solid defence to the team. He admitted the key to a successful partnership was more practice and experience, something he was
bound to get until John Terry’s return.
Cahill continued:
“My partnership with (David) Luiz and the whole back four is new. A change has been made and it's not something that is going to click into place straight away. It is different.
But the more we work together on the training ground, the better the relationships will be."
