Despite having a hamstring injury, the Chelsea medical staff have worked hard to ensure Cahill will be fit for the final in Munich. The 26-year-old is excited to feature in the UEFA Champions League final, especially after having to miss the FA Cup final victory against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809.
Cahill said in an interview:
“I was sick when I got the injury because I knew that was going to be the case straight away, although I tried to get back. But there was never any chance of that.”
The English defender admitted he had expected to be involved in such fixtures when he had signed from Bolton Wanderers in the winter transfer window. This is Cahill’s first final and he will be looking forward to securing silverware at the end of it.
He revealed:
It's my first final and it's in the biggest competition - sink or swim. You come here to play in these competitions and be a part of this. We've got a great chance now to lift the best trophy in club football.”
According to Cahill, his move to Stamford Bridge had been a success even though the Blues had not performed too well in the English Premier League. Chelsea finished sixth on the table, but have managed to secure the FA Cup and are now in contention for the Champions League trophy.
Cahill continued:
“Making a move here has obviously worked out really well. First to win the FA Cup and now to go into this huge game in my first six months here is really crazy.”
