Chelsea defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gary-Cahill-c14439 has urged the club to retain their senior players since he believed the youngsters at the club had a lot to learn from them.
In just a short time after transferring to Stamford Bridge from Bolton Wanderers, Cahill finds himself a FA Cup and UEFA Champions League winner. With many players of the old-guard expected to face a Chelsea exit, Cahill believes they still have a lot to
give to the club.
According to reports, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicolas-Anelka-c27786 there.
Along with Didier Drogba, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Frank-Lampard-c14097 and Ashley Cole are also expected to have outlived their welcome at the club. Both players are in their thirties and are not expected to retain their places in the starting line-up for long, under any manager.
However, Cahill insisted that this season did not have to mark the end for the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 old-guard. He believed they still could contribute to the future of the club.
Cahill said in an interview:
“Frank Lampard was fantastic. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ashley-Cole-c6809 was amazing and he's probably been the best left-back in the world for many years. Didier, again, turned up, the big man for the big occasion. You just learn from these sorts of boys, especially myself.”
The former Bolton Wanderers defender was extremely pleased with his performance in a difficult fixture, having to replace skipper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895 who was suspended for the match.
He said:
“You only get the experience by playing in the games and, now, these games, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 games, and even coming on in the Benfica game in the second half was a great experience for myself and will only improve me as a player.”
As for Drogba, Cahill believed the striker had done more than enough to prove his worth to the club and deserved to be held on to.
Cahill revealed:
“He just seems to turn up in these big games and that's the kind of player he is.”
