Gary DiSarcina returns to the Angels as Assistant to GM
Gary Thomas DiSarcina was a renowned Shortstop in the last century. The player who spent all his life at the helm of the Los Angeles Angels, never once moved away from the squad or the ball club. He debuted in Major League Baseball, back in 1989 and ended
his career of being a professional hitter for the squad, back in 2000. The right hand batsman was originally from Massachusetts but when he was picked by the California Angels in the 1988 amateur draft, the batter never looked backed on his team.
There were not too many noticeable achievements from the prime player, back in the day but DiSarcina made his name in the club by bringing in consistent performances. He held a batting average of .258 and he batted in 355 runs during his tenure in the top
league. Gary was voted the team’s Most Valuable player in 1998, as he made a significant difference with the bat and the glove. To add to his accolades, the veteran featured in the 1995 All – Star game and became the third base coach for Italy in the 2006
world Baseball Classic.
DiSarcina has gained the media’s attention again as the former Angles’ player has become the team’s front office Executive. He moves in to the position after former bench coach, Ron Roenicke left for a management position at the Milwaukee Brewers. Rob Piccolo
will fill in for the leaving member of the staff and his contribution to the team as an infield instructor has been much to approve of in the last 5 years.
DiSarcina will adapt to his new role as the assistant to the General Manager, Tony Reagins. The move comes after a motion to publicly limit the losing scale at the club. The management will bring in an effective staff restructuring process needed to take
care of the deficiencies experienced at the stronghold.
The General Manager made the announcement of the change in a club release and said the following to introduce DiSarcina to the supporters: "We are pleased to have Gary back in the Angels' family’. He brings a level of expertise and passion that will be critical
to the advancement of the baseball operations department."
The Angels fell short of winning the American League West division last season as the Texas Rangers took the lead and the pole position in the post season. Many supporters will be hoping the results doesn’t lead to a crisis at the ball club.
