Former Indian coach, Gary Kirsten, has endorsed http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Duncan-c54739 Fletcher’s appointment as his successor, saying the former Zimbabwean captain will add great value to the side.
Considering Fletcher’s appointment as positive change, Kirsten, who left the post after guiding India to their historic World Cup triumph after 28 years, stated that the former English coach will bring priceless experience to the table and the players would
definitely enjoy working with him.
"I did spend some time with Duncan and he asked some good questions about my process and time with the Indian side. He will have his own ideas about coaching the Indian side, it's good, it will be a positive change," Kirsten said.
The South African further expressed that he has no doubts over Fletcher’s wonderful coaching abilities as he has been hugely successful with other teams. Kirsten praised Fletcher for his excellent coaching style and approach.
The former coach added, "Duncan's been a very successful coach and I was even coached by him early on in my career. I know about him and how he operates and I think he is going to enjoy working with the Indian team and the Indian players will enjoy working
with him."
Meanwhile, he offered his experience to the new coach, saying he would always be available if Fletcher wants to take any help from his knowledge about the Men in Blue.
Responding to the question about his return to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, Kirsten described that India is just like a second home to him. He explained that he enjoyed a lot during his stay there and whenever he would get an opportunity, he would love to go back to the Indian
soil and meet up with friends. However, Kirsten ruled out the possibility of returning to India as coach of national team.
Fletcher, who is expected to attend the Indian selection committee meeting in Chennai today, May 13, 2011, will not be able to join Indian side to their upcoming tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 due to personal commitments. However, he will be there to guide Indian players
when they go against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 later this year.
