South Africa’s former captain and incumbent coach, Gary Kirsten, is pleased with the way the recently-concluded home series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 went, claiming that both the teams demonstrated their best on the field.
The coach has applauded the Aussies for their strong comeback and hard-earned victory in the 2nd and last Test match. He has also heaped praise on his team for their brilliant show in all three departments.
Kirsten asserts that the Proteas delivered hundred percent during both the matches, and gave a rather tough time to the Oz side.
Talking to the media today, Gary said, “It was one of those series where both sides let it slip and then pulled it back brilliantly. There were times when we could have kept up our concentration levels for longer periods and capitalised on a really good
position, but the Aussies had situations like that as well.”
He further told, “I’m generally happy with the way things went. They gave 100 percent and, from a coaching perspective, that’s all I ever ask for and I think it was a fantastic Test series.”
The high-voltage event, which concluded a couple of days back, was a nail-biting and rip-roaring clash, which forced the critics of the longer format to rethink.
The first match at Cape Town, witnessed a fall of at least 22 wickets in a day, with Africa and Australia totalling merely 96 and 47 runs respectively in their innings. It was such a thrilling play that the fans forgot One Day and T20 versions. In the end,
the Proteas won the gamey by 8 wickets.
The second fixture was also a neck-to-neck competition, especially at Day 5, when there came may twists and turns as each of the two titanic sides strove to win. However, the Kangaroos clinched victory with a margin of 2 wickets.
Analysts believe that if such Test matches continue to be witnessed, the 5-day format will never die.
Kirsten opines the same. The 44-year-old joined his national camp after coaching Team http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 to win the World Cup 2011.  He played 101 Test and 185 ODI games during his International career.
