Cricket South Africa (CSA) is going to announce the new coach for the national team on Monday, the 6th of June, and majority of the cricket fans in the country are hoping that matters will settle down between the officials and former South African
opener, Gary Kirsten.
Kirsten is currently reluctant to take over the job because he wants to spend more time with his wife and two sons. His wife is expecting another baby, which has made matters more difficult for CSA.
The former coach took over coaching as a profession when he was offered the role with the Indian cricket team and after the debacle of ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 held in the Caribbean, Kirsten turned out to be the most successful coach in the history of
Indian cricket as he helped his team to glory in the recently concluded World Cup in the sub-continent.
Apart from World Cup success, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 became the number-one ranked ODI team of the world under the coaching of the former Proteas cricketer.
The former left hander also missed out on a Test match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 at the birth of his first son. Kirsten expressed that he realised at that moment that how important family life is.
This is the reason why he left the job of coaching the Indian team after the World Cup because he wants to be with his family more often, which was not possible with the Indian team as they have a very hectic international schedule.
Kirsten said, “It was an indescribable experience, and something no one should miss out on. It changed my whole life, and made me realize that there are more important things to life than cricket. I am not at all regretting the fact that I missed that Test
to be by her side”.
Former South African fast bowler and current bowling coach of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754, Alan Donald, has also backed Kirsten for the post.
“He is mentally strong. And his management of people is also very good. He did a lot of things right with the Indian team”, said Donald.
