Gary Kubiak boasts Houston Texans readiness vs coach Joe Philbin-led Miami Dolphins – NFL News
The Houston Texans, who are coming out on the field for the first time with the historical triumph of last season – playing in the playoffs and American Football Conference (AFC) South division win – have sent a strong and loud message to the visiting Miami
Dolphins first year coach Joe Philbin that it is not going to be an easy taking for him during the season opener this Sunday.
From coach Gary Kubiak to Texans players, all have boasted their preparations for the fresh start – with higher aims and higher standards to meet. An oblivious reference of their keenness to walk even taller this season is to move reasonably beyond from
the past year’s performance level.
Realistically looking at the situation, the stakes are higher for both coaches: one is trying to put the side back on the winning ways and other aiming to do better to prove that the team was not just one-time winners of the division.
Gary said of Texans situation:
"I appreciate the fact that people are saying a lot of good things about us. I think we're going to be a good football team, but we want to be great and I think we've got some work to do."
His was complemented by a similar stance from quarterback Matt Schaub, who unfortunately missed the past year’s winning performance of the team. He said:
"We took the next step as a team and the only next step after that is to get to the Super Bowl and win it. So anything short of that will be a disappointment in our eyes."
The Texans were hailed as heroes on their return to Houston last season and the week-long celebrative and festive mood of the city warranted the team to return with an even better record next year to get more befitting reception. The coach knows it and the
players realise it, and they have ensured to head to the season fully prepared.
A positive development this year is that the Texans have Schaub fully fit and in form in the squad, and it is to see how well he comes up to the team’s expectations. It is pertinent to mention that the veteran is into consecutive sixth season with the team.
