Gary Mabbutt: Champions League qualification will make Tottenham Hotspur even stronger next season
Former Tottenham Hotspur defender, Gary Mabbutt, has stated that Spurs will be a much stronger side than this term if they qualify for the UEFA Champions League at the end of the 2010/11 season. He also heaped praise on the impact Harry Redknapp has made
in the last two years at the club.
Tottenham Hotspur qualified for their first ever Champions League under Harry Redknapp last year and had a sensational campaign in Europe. The Londoners reached the quarter-final of the competition, beating the likes of AC Milan in the knockout stage but
eventually lost to Real Madrid.
Mabbutt claimed that Spurs have made tremendous progress in the last two years. The North London club were hovering above the relegation zone when Harry Redknapp joined them and finished a remarkable fourth last season.

The 49-year-old admitted that it will be a tough task to finish fourth this season as Manchester City are also in the race, but suggested that the Londoners have to maintain the good performances and be consistent.
“Tottenham now don’t want to be a team that is grooming players to move on. We want to be a team that is top four every season and challenging for the major honours. That’s what the club’s ambitions are, hopefully we can get fourth spot and strengthen to
