Neville has come out and backed Stuart Pearce’s decision to exclude http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Beckham-c10432 from the final Team Great Britain squad for the 2012 London Olympics. It was widely believed that Beckham would be a part of the squad that is set
to represent the host nation in football.
But Pearce surprised everyone by omitting the former Manchester United winger’s name from the squad altogether even though his name was present in the preliminary squad. Beckham’s omission has paved way for other players as Craig
Bellamy, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Micah-Richards-c25259 are all in the squad.
Giggs is set to captain the squad and in doing so, attempt to lead the Great Britain team to glory on their home turf. Pearce’s team are going through training right now but the media has criticized the Team GB manager for not
including Beckham who worked hard to bring the Olympics to his home city of London.
The L.A galaxy midfielder has expressed his disappointment on the matter as well but now things have to move on for both the parties considering that Team GB will face the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 at the 2012 Olympics.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 and he's disappointed. He wanted to be part of it. It
was a dream of his. This would have been a great occasion for him.”
He added, "I'm disappointed for him as a friend, but professionally I can understand that there are difficult decisions to be made. There will be people who will argue that David does deserve a position in the GB team for helping
to bring the Games here.”
Neville and Beckham played together for Manchester United from their days in the youth academy at Old Trafford and won the UEFA Champions League as well as several Premier League titles together. Neville retired from football last
season and has since then taken up a post at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 national team’s backroom staff under Roy Hodgson.
