One of them was married to him (apparently no minimum age of consent).

Worryingly, if he'd just had the one pre-teen wife, he wouldn't have been prosecuted.

I guess that's why he moved there. I dread to think how many other children are being abused in this way with the law's approval.

well going on a friends knowledge, if that's the word, on the trade in women in Thailand, i.e the high levels of prostitution, then suggest perhaps the parents had something to do with it. One would hope not, but what is bizarre is how they just pay off family where a child has been abused, often not taking the abuser to the police or court.

I have argued the point that prostitution, abuse of minors will go on until someone like their governments put a stop to s*x tourists, like Gary Glitter. But my feeling is they won't because many people are so poor that this is what they resort just to eat.

And also as a reporter said on TV this morning, there are literally hundreds of thousands of these paedophiles, and s*x tourists, but Glitter has been picked up on because he is well known

Gary scumbag Glitter was convicted (quite rightly) of having s*x with a 12 and 13 year old in Thailand, but unfortunately they were the only ones he was caught out with, how many others suffered his perverted pleasure? He was jailed in the UK for having 4000 pictures of hard core child p**n, the fact that he only got a paltry 4 months is neither here nor there, how many others here in the UK suffered his deviance's, something we will never know, whatever he has done he is still a filthy scumbag pervert and I wish him ill I hope his life is made as miserable as possible a very small taste of his own medicine.

It is a sad fact that in some third world countries parents sell their children into prostitution for money. It is a survival mentality. The girls may have come from poor families who saw their ticket meal when Mr Glitter came their way.

I'd like to know more about this, too.  Were the parents aware of his reputation?  If not, why was he allowed into the country.

This is an error(?) caused by both governments - the UK for allowing a known paedophile to enter a country where child prostitution is a way of making money, and any country which allows a known paedohile in it.

As for your suggestion that the children were used by their parents - this is possible, (I don't know about it) but if not, and they trusted him, then the fault lies with the system.  Either way, the system stinks.
