Gas Burner ignitor is not working

I have a model Amana Model AKGD3060E, I believe its discontinued, gas cooktop. The ignitor doesnt work, I have to turn the gas on and ignite with a lighter then turn to the burner setting, it doesnt automatically light. What could be causing this problem, and is it an easy fix or am i better off getting a new cooktop????
