Gas Gauge in '93 Toyota Corolla Doesn't Work?

Hi, I have a 1993 Toyota Corolla, and the gas gauge basicly doesn't work... or it shows random speeds, like I can be stopped and it says I'm accelerating. A somone suggested as an easy fix just check the fuses, but I don't have the manual for the car so is there a way I could figure out what kind of fuse and where to put it?

if your gas gauge is telling you that your accelerating...then thats one crazy gauge
