... out how many miles I'm getting (I know I could but am not THAT motivated!) but anyway, how many miles per gallon (approx.) do you think I'm getting freeway and city. I spent $1800 on it when I first got it so everything is in pretty good shape.

  1. with that small of a engine (Any stock bug engine) im saying atleast 30 mpg city

  2. Start with a full tank of gas. If you use a GPS that calculates how far you've driven, then when you fill up the gas tank, divide the number of miles by the number of gallons filled.

Or, if no GPS, just roughly guesstimate how far you've driven, based on where you went.

  3. I don't think you're going to get much more than 20 mpg combined city/highway as a "safe" number.  Estimating higher than that could leave you on the side of the road, waiting for someone to bring you gasoline.

Spend the $50 and get the gas gauge repaired, it's well worth the money.
