Gas Pool Heater Problem.. Please Help!?

Our pool heater recently hasn't worked properly and is constantly turning on then off every 3 mins or so. The thermostat is turned to full and the pool temp is only 78df. I would like to know if there is anything I can do to fix it without calling the repair man. Thanks.(specificly a pool heater person would be helpful

i am a pool person and you need to call a pool company in you area that works on heaters pool company owner eleven years experince

You can start replacing parts until it works properly, but calling a pro is your best bet.

check to see if water is flowing through the heater , check to see if you have propane , there are several reasons other than that , do you have a a pilot light or igintion is it power vented , is the chimney blocked but call a repair man as this is something a tradesman should work on so you don't blow up your self and the niebourhood

On and off is typical of a flow switch problem. This would indicate a pump problem. Water is not flowing through the heater at a consistent  rate.
