I about freaked out today when I was out going to the store when I seen some of the gas stations at this price. Well it has come down to it that I am going to have to walk my child to and from school here soon. Looks like this upcoming school year to. Walmart is about a mile or so down the road and we do have some smaller little stores up the road. So looks like I'm going to be on foot often. My family does not have a choice we need to save money so my husband can get to and from work we can't afford to fill up more than once a week and once a week is even pushing it. Anybody else in my shoes?

  1. wow...where I am at in CA its $4.01. Try filling up in the morning. The gas will be less expanded, and you will get more bang for the buck.

  2. riding my bike to work. I have been doing it for about the last 10 years. I got rid of my gas mower 10 years ago too. Got an electric.

I don't see it getting any better. And it hasn't.  We have to find a way to do without oil. We have to find another way.

  3. Wow, down here in Southern Cali. it's like 3.83 last I checked and that was yesterday! I think if your in that  bad situation there are things you can do to save gas. I put some links below. Sorry I'm not in your shoes but I like to help!

  4. idk my bff rose

  5. Buying a PS3 and spending all my free time playing video games so I don't have to drive anywhere.

No really, bike riding is fun. I get to ride down big hills on the way to work. WEEEEE! It saves money.

  6. Myself, I take transit. Saves a lot on gas. Saves on parking too. Of course that depends on where you live. I just happen to have awesome service where I live.

I also stopped driving to the nearby stores. I go by on my way home or I just walk. It's not that hard and its nice to get some fresh air.

But you can improve fuel efficiency of your existing vehicle (outside buying a fuel efficient one). Ensure it is maintained properly. Changed oil lately? Are your tire properly inflated (this one's big). Then you can just drive more gently. You can easily drive without ever pushing above 2500RPM.

  7. my husband drives 3 hours every day because he works an hour and a half from our house and we spend about 300 in gas a week. so in june were moving to the city where he works. im sad ive lived in the same house for 19 years ive been here since i was little and this house was given to me. i gotta do what i gotta do though. just imagine i will have an extra 1200 dollars a month. im not rich and that 300 dollars really affects us.

  8. A friend of mind said he was going to subside his gas but not buying condoms.

  9. Ay, It's 3.95 where I'm at. I want to gouge my eyes out.

  10. I go to Sam's Club and Costco to buy mine.  It is usually at least ten cents cheaper than the average prices.

  11. I have been riding my motorcycle as often as possible, including riding in the rain.   Rode home last night in the rain with temps at 37F.  But I have saved around $55 US since March.  Looking forward to warmer weather so I will be able to ride my bicycle for various errands.  Still very hesitant to pedal to work.  Poor road conditions and a scary city keep me away from bicycle commuting.

This will be the year of the motorcycle, scooter, bicycle, and walking.  Many businesses will be hurting and tax revenues will be down.  But that is OK since oil companies are announcing RECORD PROFITS.  Must really make our Texas Oilman President very happy.

  12. i know how you feel but we cant do anything because we depend on gas to get around.

  13. I am buying a large SUV and driving around everywhere.....the way I see it, I want to enjoy this time as much as possible before it hits $10.00/gallon

  14. up if no gut to WALK just 2 days a week.

use slick 50 just $6 for old motors (>100K miles) to save 15%. Fuel injector cleaner 10-15%

  15. Every 3k miles or so that you put on, go to AUTOZONE and by a  $5 bottle of fuel injector cleaner, and put that in right before you fill up your tank. It will increase your mileage by atleast 3 miles per gallon on the highway, and therefor, you'll see that your using less gas

  16. what i typically do is put a band aid on it

  17. Yeah we stopped going out to eat and stick to home cooked meals

  18. nothing.um..don't drive fast i guess

  19. I feel the same way about not being able to afford filling up.  I actually decided that I'm going to start riding my bike to and from work.  If I go anywhere I will either ride my bike, or go with someone else that is going.  I'm also going to look into the public transportation we have in my town.  There is a shuttle that used to be free, and I am looking into seeing if it still is.  I think if everyone would quit driving for a week or so the oil companies would get the picture and maybe do something about it!  I hope this changes soon!!!!

  20. not going out to eat at restaurants and canceling the unnecessary stuff (Newspaper).

  21. Driving A LOT less often...unfortunately my husband works about 50 miles round trip away. He's started working from home a few days a week to avoid the commute.  Thankfully he has this option.

  22. We are in the same boat as you.

I have been bike riding a lot.

  23. I wish it were $3.60 a gallon where i live.  It is about $6.50 a gallon in Europe.

  24. You want to see what it's like here in the uk... its now over $10 a gallon (£5.04) and it's only going to get worse... get a diesel and run it on chip fat .. that's what I am planning!.. my nearest store is 17 miles away (live in rural Cornwall) I just can;t aford to even drive to get shopping... the world is in madness!
