Could the High gas prices mean that NHL teams will have to stop flying on private jets and fly commerical? Maybe even in coach?

  1. I think its time for the zamboni to go green.

Bet you the Limited Edition Hybrid Zamboni will outsell the Prius!

  2. They'll just stick it to the fans and raise the prices of  beer, parking and tickets.

I hear airlines are going to weigh people!

  3. DO YOU REALLY THINK A TRIVIAL EXPENSE LIKE THAT IS TO THEM WILL MATTER ?

  4. No, I think private is still cheaper than flying coach. I mean, they have all that equipment to check in...

But what they could do, though, is contract out an airline, like Air Canada or American Airlines and have them fly the team around for a fixed cost.

Also, I think that more teams will be taking the train or a coach bus whenever feasible; like the Sens visiting the Habs or Oilers visiting the Flames, things like that. (I don't think the Sens visiting the Leafs would be feasible on train or coach bus though.)

  5. Their road trips may get longer.  Sometimes when teams have a few days off between road games they would go home, that may not happen now.  Would the hotel bill be cheaper than the gas?

Maybe the rookie dinner will get changed to the "rookie pays for the gas on a road trip"!

  6. I don't think it will . Look at what Southworst Airlines has done. By flying 5-10 mph slower, adding 4-8 minutes per flight, they are going to save 40 million dollars a year in fuel costs.. Same can be done for NHL teams. So the flight takes 15 minutes longer, so what? Or they can lease a jet from someone. Do the Phoenix Suns still lease from Southworst?

The real differences will be those fans with longer drives who only go to a few games a year, a probably won't now, your concession and souvenir prices will be higher as delivery costs of those items go up. Prices increases will be passed along to the fans anyway due to these ridiculous salaries also.

I thought NIPS switched to Methane......jk
