Question:

Gas Range Not Igniting after I washed it - Please Read?

It was working fine until now, I decided to give a thorough cleaning. I took the burners off and cleaned everything underneath being careful not to touch the small thing the gas comes out of. Would even a tiny bit of moisture be causing it?Will it work later or does washing under those silver things destroy it? I am renting so I have no manual and odn't want to call landlord over something if its nothing. .

  1. The things that the gas come out of are the Pilot Lights. Once they go out you have to re-light them. Just be very careful and hold a match above them and they should pop right on.

OK, TIME TO CALL THE LANDLORD. YOUR RENT PAYS HIM FOR STUFF LIKE THIS. Its not "nothing," its now "something."

  2. Sometimes, after a good cleaning, you will need to light the burners with a match to get the pilot light working. Let them operate for a few minutes to dry out any excess moisture.

  3. Sometimes, your burners aren't set on right or something silly like that. I have a gas range, and sometimes if it doesn't start, just take the top of the burner off and put it back on (if your range  is like mine). That usually works for me.

Also, the moisture shouldn't be a problem because those hoses are airtight, so moisture on the outside of the hose shouldn't cause a problem with the gas getting to the burner. If you got a whole lot of water on the burner (like it flooded) it may not start, just try and dry it off, but like i said, take that top plate off of your burner and reset it on there. For some reason that fixed my problem.
