Hi, I was wondering where I can buy a gasoline shut off so thieves cant drive away with my car. If im right, i think it works by pressing a button in my car that turns off the gas to the motor when im getting out, is this right? It would be for a 2001 Honda Civic EX

  1. If there is no such thing maybe you could invent one so I can hook it up to my car!!

  2. Ummmm,,,,while you can disable your fuel system, remember that cars need both fuel and spark to run.  It's much easier to disable the ignition system by putting a simple switch inside the cab of the vehicle to disable one of the field wires on the coil or coil packs.

Old school system was to put in a series of toggle switches, five or six, right on the dash that had to be in just the right order to make the car run.  Worked well, and looked cool too.

You could do it right with some type of simple circuit, and a relay,,,, then you put in some little LED's and such if you are looking to add some trick to your ride.

I did the same set up with my amp's power wire, so that people driving my car would not s***w with the sound system.

  3. Use a small toggle switch that you mount in a hidden place and wire it up using a bosch relay, an external in-line fuse and splice it into the power lead from the fuel pump..............

  4. I believe that a Honda civic has an electric fuel pump.

Isolate the fuse for the fuel pump and make a remote cut off!

There is no factory button for this that I am aware of!

    Suggest a quality alarm system!

They can also install remote starter for your civic.

prices range from $200.00 to 2000.00.

  5. There are a few ways to do this with a vehicle.  While some are complex, the easiest would be simply taking out your fuel pump relay when you park your car.  Its a bit of pain, but my best friend does this everytime and has never had anyone steal his car.

There are numerous companies that sell different things of this nature.  There are also immobilizer systems that are relatively cheap, they actually work off of the relay anyway....requires a key pod or special key.

  6. Find the fuse in the fuse block for the fuel pump and remove it before leaving the car...or install a hidden  "kill switch" in the wiring for the fuel pump. Many auto alarm installation companies offer systems that do this or can custom fabricate one for you.
