I have a problem. I have a gas stove, but it needs a new electric cord. I think the electric cord is what makes the the burners ignite. . but anyway, this new house i bought, the people left the stove here. When the gas company came and turned on my gas, he checked everything, then he plugged up the stove, and my house filled up with smoke. Well. i was now lookin at the cord, and the wires are BURNT to the core.......It needs a new cord. Is there any possible way i can replace this cord? I need 1 wire undone, and i don't wanna cut it. . I also have a total electric stove, but i don't know how to put in a 220 Outlet.

  1. If the insulation on the wire is melted you have to wonder what caused that to happen.  When the gas company plugged in your stove and your house filled with smoke that might have been the source of the smoke.  It is not hard to replace the power cord but you really probably need to have the stove completely checked out.  You can buy pigtailed power cords at Lowes, Home Depot or other hardware stores.  Short of getting inside the stove to the electrical connections, you will have to cut the old cord and splice it.  Better to replace the whole thing.
