Gas Wheed whacker broke down?

I have a homelite mightlyte some kind of homelite wheed whacker.

The whacker starts up fine, but after like 30-40 seconds, of letting it run, it stops,

Theres a complicated process of turning it on. like switch to full choke, then pull the cord, then switch to half choke, pull the cord and let it run for 10 seconds, then switch to run.

As so as i switch to run it lasts all of 30 seconds, does anyone know whats wrong?

I had an Echo and was only 3 years old.  The carburetor went out and would cost $110 to fix.   I got a Ryobi with batteries.  

If the carb goes, it is expensive.

Garden center will check it for free.

Your main jet on its carb is dirty.Try running some injector cleaner through it(mixed with the gas) If that doesn't do it you will have to dissamble it and clean it(a real pain)

Two things, first there is a filter in the gas tank on the end of one of the hoses.  Change it.  Second, get a rebuilt kit for the carburetor and clean and rebuit the carb.  These are little diaphram carbs and they need to be cleaned and rebuilt every so ofter.  The diaphram is the fuel pump.  It is not working properly, that is why it won't keep running.  The kit is about $15 and available at most small engine repair shops.  You will need the brand and numbers off the carb to get the kit.  It is an easy job.

i would look at a couple of simple things: when you set the choke to run it is wide open(requires more air) remove the air filter cover and air filter. see if it runs. if it does, filter needs cleaned or replaced. while you are looking into the carb intake spray some carb cleaner in there. if there is a fuel filter on the end of the gas line in the tank, remove it. see if it runs. if it does, filter needs replaced. remove spark plug clean it, check gap and replace. see if it runs. if it was fouled with oil, oil mix too high, or not running trimmer at high enough speed to burn off oil.
