ive seen these tanks chained, tied to telephone pole all the time and wondered what they were for.im sure they are not flammable,is it argon gas?what do they use them for?they seem dangerous tied to the pole like they are, since the poles seem to be magnets for out of control drivers.

  1. I think you are seeing gas cylinders for the phone company. The phone lines are in tubes that are pressureized. When there is a break, the pressure drops and the sensors tell the phone company where the break is. It is an inert gas, which one is I dont know.

  2. they are condensers that drop the voltage before it comes into your house or otherwise not only would all your electronics get fried but the wring to the house couldn't handle it and your house would burn.
