  1. Your gas is higher because I believe everything is......including your pay check average.

So what is the amount that y'all would consider gas to be high over there?

  2. come on

hummer is not the way to go.

i need some japanese or chinese cars

100 mpg is fine for me and it doesnt have to gurantee the safety.

  3. In the US we drive around 300 miles a week, that comes out to be about $75/week for the average driver.

Now that mileage is based pretty much off what I know of a few friends, while I was working I was driving upwards of 650 miles per week (which I am glad I am not doing now).

The price is driving deeply into the price of everything else, and its crippling us economically.  Our president is an oil man and wants the price up there so he can make millions more, what he doesn't care about is the working class that drive this country.

I think it will be interesting to see what will happen to the rest of the world when we hit rock bottom.  I wonder what that will do to Europe.

  4. In the UK you also pay a whole lot more in taxes compared to the US. But in the US, the price of regular unleaded has been going up at a quicker rate than it has in the past, so that's why there is so much attention on it. For example, when I started driving in 2003, gas was only $1.32/gal. So, in the past 5 years, the average price of gas went up $2.28/gal. Today, I had to pay $3.75/gal (£1.89/gal) and it cost me $50 in my little Escape. Time to go car shopping again :(

But, there is a minor problem with your math:

    1 gallon = 3.785 litres.

    £1.09/litre x 3.785 = £4.13/gallon

    £4.13/gallon x 1.99 (exchange rate) = $8.21/gal

  5. maybe we should all start walking.

  6. most of the gas sipping cars you drive over there are not available here I would love a diesel Volkswagen polo at 75mpg but there not available here in the us. The car company's BRAG about 30 mpg here when i know its more like 50 mpg over there

put that in with a longer drive to work and a weaker dollar and now you see the problem. according to http://www.fueleconomy.gov/ the most fuel efficient car in the usa  is the 2008 Toyota Prius at 48/45 mpg
